Louis Jean Liberté, also known as Jean Louis Liberte, was a French/American artist who painted in the Romantic Expressionist style. He was born in New York in 1896 and died in 1965. He specialized in singing poetry, particularly that of Louis Aragon, and had a left-wing sympathy that found its way into a few songs. He exhibited throughout the United States and his work is in major museum collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
