Biography:

Jiro Takamatsu was a Japanese artist born in Tokyo in 1936 and died in 1998. He was a central figure in post-war Japanese art, expanding points into volume, bringing sculptural actions into the daily city life of Tokyo, and making shadows and perspectives an essential part of his work. Takamatsu was a prolific artist who worked in various mediums, including photography, sculpture, painting, and installation. He was also a member of the art group Hi Red Center and participated in the Fluxus movement. Takamatsu's work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries worldwide, and he is considered one of the most important postwar Japanese artists.
