Biography:

Jan Franken Pzn. (The Hague, November 18, 1896 – there, February 27, 1977) was a Dutch painter and draftsman. He was educated at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He was a member of the Pulchri Studio and the Haagse Kunstkring. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes and genre scenes. He was influenced by the Hague School and the Impressionists. He exhibited at Onze Kunst van Heden in 1939-1940. He was awarded the Willink van Collenprijs in 1950. He was a teacher at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1952 to 1962.
