Biography:

Johan Heinrich Neuman, also known as Johan Hendrik Neuman Gzn, was a German-born Dutch painter and lithographer. He was born in Cologne as the son of the merchant Gerrit Neuman (1785-1859). He specialized in paintings of recent history and in portraits. He was a friend of William II of the Netherlands and painted the king's inauguration in 1840, as well as many members of the royal family. He was also a teacher to several artists, including Johan Heinrich Neuman. He died in Amsterdam in 1898.
