Jim Amaral is an American artist born in Pleasanton, California, in 1933. He studied at Stanford University and Cranbrook Academy of Arts. In 1957, he moved to Colombia, where he met his partner Olga. Amaral's work explores the relationships between masculinity and femininity, often with erotic undertones. He is known for his drawings, paintings, and bronze sculptures, which often combine ancient and modern elements. Amaral's work is held in collections around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
