Biography:

John Lewis Womersley was an English architect born in Sheffield in 1910 and died in 1990. He was the City Architect of Sheffield from 1953 to 1964. He was awarded the CBE in 1962. He was the head of the team that planned and designed the mixed high-density housing development Park Hill Estate, built between 1957 and 1961. He was also the architect of the children's play area of the Park Hill Estate, designed in 1961.
