Biography:
Josef Rummelspacher, also known as Joseph Rummelspacher, was a German landscape painter born in Berlin in 1852 and died in the same city in 1921. He was the son of Wilhelm Rummelspacher, a Geheimen Kanzleirats, Geheimen Kanzleidirektors im Berliner Justizministerium and Hauptmanns a. D. He studied at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin and at the Großherzoglich-Sächsischen Kunstschule in Weimar. He was influenced by the Weimarer Malerschule and the Schule von Barbizon. He worked in Düsseldorf and then returned to Berlin, where he became a member of the Verein Berliner Künstler. He painted landscapes from the Schwarzwald and the Mark Brandenburg. He lived in the Lützowstraße in Berlin until his death in 1921.
