Joseph Squillante is an American photographer born in 1938 in Peekskill, United States. He has been photographing the Hudson River for over 40 years, traveling its length from its source at Lake Tear of the Clouds on Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks to its mouth at New York Harbor. He has had several solo exhibitions, including 'Peekskill: In Plain Sight, Yet Unseen' at The Field Library in Peekskill in 2019 and 'Hudson Heritage, Agriculture of the Hudson River Valley' at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers in 2018. His work has been featured in publications such as 'Life Along the Hudson: A Visual Voyage with Joseph Squillante' and 'Hudson River Photography - JOSEPH SQUILLANTE'. He has also been a photography teacher for many years. Squillante's photographs were part of the 'Hudson Rising' exhibition at the New-York Historical Society in 2019. He is also known for his work as a caporegime in the Genovese crime family, controlling the Genovese interests in the Fulton Fish Market and being involved in pump and dump stock scams on Wall Street, as well as controlling Brooklyn's garbage hauling industry. He was a central figure in the book 'Takedown: The Fall of the Last Mafia Empire' and was known for always wearing aviator style tinted sunglasses, even at night.
