Biography:
Jurgen Bey is a Dutch artist and designer born in 1964 in Sittard, Netherlands. He is known for his work in various domains of applied arts including public space projects, product design, architecture and exhibition design. Bey is the director of the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam since 2010 and also co-founded Studio Makkink & Bey with Rianne Makkink in 2002. He has received numerous awards for his work and has been nominated for the Rotterdam Design Prize in 2007 and 2009. Bey's work often explores the boundaries between art and design and challenges traditional notions of functionality and aesthetics.
