Biography:
Ni Hao, also known as Karen Chau, is an American artist and creator of the animated children's television series Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. She grew up in a bicultural (Chinese-American) household and based the show on her childhood memories. Ni Hao is the Mandarin word for 'hello', and Kai-Lan is Chau's Chinese name, which was later anglicized to Karen.
