Biography:

Carl Gottfried Neumann was a German mathematician born on May 7th, 1832 in Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). He studied physics with his father Franz Ernst Neumann and later became a professor at the universities of Halle, Basel, Tübingen, and Leipzig. Neumann worked on the principle of Dirichlet and was one of the pioneers of the theory of integral equations. He passed away on March 27th, 1925 in Leipzig, Germany.
