Biography:
Wilhelm Lucas von Cranach, also known as Karl Wilhelm Lucas von Cranach, was a German painter, interior designer, and jeweler designer. He was born in Stargard, Germany in 1861 and died in Berlin, Germany in 1918. He was a descendant of the 16th-century painter Lucas Cranach the Elder and studied at the Großherzoglich-Sächsischen Kunstschule Weimar. After studying in Paris, he settled in Berlin in 1893. He was known for his landscape and portrait paintings, as well as his furniture and jewelry designs. He worked with the Berlin Hofjuwelieren Gebrüder Friedländer and Louis Werner, and won a gold medal at the 1900 World Exposition in Paris for his work with Werner. His monogram on his jewelry pieces is W.L.C.
