Katsushika Isai was a Japanese artist born in Edo (now Tokyo) in 1821 and died in 1880. He was a member of the Utagawa school, one of the most important schools of ukiyo-e artists in Japan. Isai was known for his landscapes and genre scenes, often depicting scenes of everyday life in Edo. He was also a skilled printmaker and produced many woodblock prints.
