Kurt Lewin was a German-American psychologist, known as one of the modern pioneers of social, organizational, and applied psychology in the United States. He was born in Mogilno, Prussia, German Empire (now Mogilno, Poland) on 1890 and died in 1947. Lewin applied himself to three general topics: applied research, action research, and group communication. He is often recognized as the 'founder of social psychology' and was one of the most important psychologists of the twentieth century. Lewin's theory of social field, which holds that human behavior is a function of both the person and their environment, has had a significant impact on the field of social psychology.
