Biography:

Ogata Ihachi, also known as Kyoto Kenzan II, was a Japanese artist born in Kyoto, Japan in circa 1720 and died in circa 1760. He was active during the Edo period and was known for his work in ceramics. He was the successor of Ogata Kenzan and continued the Kenzan style in his creations. His works are known for their graphic patterns of auspicious plants, pine, and bamboo, which are associated with longevity and New Year celebrations. He is represented in various museums and collections around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, DC.
