Biography:
Lambert Sachs, a painter of portraits, landscapes, and history pictures, was born in Mannheim, Germany, on 5 November 1818. He was the son of Anna Margarete Dieland and Carl Bartolomaus Sachs, a professor at the University of Heidelberg. Sachs received his artistic training in Germany and later emigrated to the United States, where he became a prominent artist and teacher. He was known for his naive portrait, landscape, and history paintings. Sachs died in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, in 1903.
