Biography:

Laurel Garcia Colvin is a mixed media artist born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1954. She received her BFA in 1978 and her MFA in 1984, both from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been the subject of several solo exhibitions and has received numerous grants, awards, and residencies, including the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her work has been exhibited in various galleries and museums, including the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, and the Katonah Museum of Art. She has also been involved in various panel discussions and workshops, and has received funding for her exhibitions through ArtsWestchester. Her work often delves into the world of reality, fantasy, and history, and provides a visual space to reflect on and reconsider the relationship between these elements. She has also been involved in various collaborative projects, including the HER FLAG Collaborative Project marking the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
