Biography:
Luca Caccioni is an Italian painter born in Bologna in 1962. He attended the Liceo Artistico and then the Accademia di Belle Arti of his city, where he graduated in Painting in 1985. In the same year, he joined the A.G.O group at its beginnings, where he dealt with image and communication.
Caccioni's first significant exhibitions date back to the early 1990s, with his participation in the exhibition 'Nuova Officina Bolognese' at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Bologna in 1990 and his first personal exhibition at the Galleria Spazia in Bologna in 1991. His research moves within the pictorial field, overlapping unusual and contemporary materials such as acetates, on which he paints forms, signs, and places taken from his personal memory and from the suggestions of different cultures and historical periods.
In 1994, Caccioni won the Michetti Prize in Francavilla a Mare. His first personal exhibition in a public space was held at the Palazzina dei Giardini in Modena in 1997. In this occasion, Caccioni directly intervened on the exhibition space with an installation.
Caccioni's works are characterized by the use of different techniques and media, including painting, photography, installation, and video. His research is focused on the themes of memory, identity, time, and change.
