Biography:

Lucas Achtschellinck was a Flemish landscape painter born in Brussels in 1626 and died in the same city in 1699. He is considered one of the major figures of the seventeenth century's School of the Brussels Landscapists or Painters of the Sonian Forest. He was a pupil of Denis van Alsloot and became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in 1625. He was the master of Lucas Achtschellinck. He is known for his landscape paintings and drawings, which were highly appreciated during his lifetime and are still admired today.
