Luis de Madrazo y Kuntz was a Spanish painter of portraits and religious scenes from a well-known family that included his father José (a neoclassical artist). He was born on February 27, 1825 in Madrid, Spain and died on February 9, 1897. Madrazo y Kuntz specialized in painting portraits and religious scenes, as well as historical themes. He served as a professor supernumerario and director of the Escuela de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado de Madrid (School of Painting, Sculpture, and Engraving of Madrid).
