Mahi Binebine is a Moroccan painter and novelist born in Marrakech in 1959. He has written six novels which have been translated into various languages. He is considered the most famous and prolific Moroccan artist, with his works exhibited in major museums and collections around the world. Binebine is also known for his humanistic approach to art, often placing the human figure at the center of his paintings. He co-founded Les Etoiles de Sidi Moumen, a cultural center in Casablanca, with filmmaker Nabil Ayouch in 2014. Binebine's paintings often reflect his experiences growing up in Morocco and his observations of contemporary society. His work is characterized by its vibrant colors, bold brushstrokes, and emotional intensity.
