Biography:
The Berlin Painter was an Athenian vase painter who, with the Kleophrades Painter, is considered one of the outstanding vase painters of the 500s-460s BCE. He is known for his mastery of the red-figure technique and is attributed with almost 300 works, mostly medium to large-sized vessels such as amphoras, hydrias, and kraters. His style is characterized by fluid movements and a focus on male figures, while female figures often appear more static. The Berlin Painter is believed to have been a key figure in the transition from the Archaic to the Classical style in Greek art.
