Biography:
Cantagalli manufacture, also known as Manifattura Figli di Giuseppe Cantagalli, was an Italian pottery producer based in Florence, Italy. The Cantagalli family had been associated with ceramics since the 15th century, with the factory producing ceramics in Florence by the beginning of the 18th century. Ulisse Cantagalli, born in 1839, took over the family business in 1878 and began trading as Manifattura Figli di Giuseppe Cantagalli. He was married to Margaret Tod, a Scottish girl, in 1880. Cantagalli was fascinated by Italian pottery made during the Renaissance and had a natural talent for reviving the old techniques. He passed away in 1901.
