Biography:
Maria Anna Olga Luiza Bonomi, known as Maria Bonomi, was born in 1935 in Meina, Italy, to a Brazilian mother and an Italian father. She moved to Brazil in 1945 and studied painting with Yolando Mohaíyi and Karl Platter, and later studied gravure with Livio Abramo. She is known for her printmaking and sculpture, and has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions. She has also worked as a curator, costume designer, set designer, and professor. In 2007, a monograph of her work was published by EdUSP titled 'Maria Bonomi: da gravura à arte pública'. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her contributions to the arts, including being named a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in 2005. She continues to live and work in Brazil.
