Biography:
Marinus Heijl was a Dutch painter who was born in Utrecht in 1836. He studied at the Rijksakademie van beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and was a pupil of Hendrik Dirk Kruseman van Elten. In 1871, he became a member of Arti et Amicitiae, where he later held various management positions. He had a studio in Amsterdam and trained young painters such as Geo Poggenbeek and Nicolaas Bastert. He worked regularly in the surroundings of Doorwerth and Amsterdam. He died in Amsterdam in 1931 at the age of 94.
