Mark Robert Klett is an American photographer born on September 9, 1952 in Berkeley, California, United States. He is known for his landscape photography that explores the intersection of places, history and time. Before turning to photography, Klett worked as a geologist. His work is included in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Klett is also known for his work on the Rephotographic Survey Project from 1977 to 1979, where he reshot, from the same physical location, iconic images of the American West.
