Jean Dassier was a Swiss medalist and engraver, born in Geneva in 1676 and died in 1767. He was a member of the Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris and was known for his high-quality portrait medals. He was also the official engraver of the city of Geneva and produced many medals for the city and its institutions. Dassier's work is highly regarded for its technical skill and artistic merit, and his medals are considered important historical documents. He was awarded the title of 'Medalist of the King' by Louis XV of France in 1737.
