Biography:
Mike Nelson is a British artist born in Loughborough, United Kingdom in 1967. He came to prominence in the late 1990s for creating psychological environments by sifting through the debris of modern life. His installations are expansive dominions for assemblages of cultural detritus, often taking the form of complex, site-specific constructions that disrupt and overwhelm their surroundings. Nelson has twice been nominated for the Turner Prize, in 2001 and 2007, and represented England at the Venice Biennale in 2011. He is currently represented by 303 Gallery in New York, Galleria Franco Noero in Turin, and Matt's Gallery in London.
