Milton Caniff was an American comic-strip artist, originator of 'Terry and the Pirates' and 'Steve Canyon'. He was born on February 28, 1907, in Hillsboro, Ohio, and died on April 3, 1988, in New York. Caniff was often referred to as 'the Rembrandt of comic strips' and was famous for his long-running comic strips, which were noted for their fine illustration and character-driven narratives. He was also known for his work on the 'Terry and the Pirates' and 'Steve Canyon' comic strips, which were both popular and influential in the world of comic strips. Caniff was also a member of the National Cartoonists Society and won the Reuben Award for 'Steve Canyon' in 1971.
