Biography:

Mo Pu (1915-1996, in traditional characters '莫樸') was born in Nanjing. He was an important oil painter, graphic artist and wood engraver. He studied under Xu Beihong and Liu Haisu. Mo Pu's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with reported prices ranging from 100 USD to 10000 USD. He is best known for his oil paintings and wood engravings, which often depict scenes of Chinese life and culture. Mo Pu's work is held in the collections of the National Art Museum of China and the Shanghai Museum, among others.
