Biography:

Mochizuki Gyokusen was a Japanese painter who lived during the late Edo period. He was born in Kyoto in 1794 and died in 1852. He was a master of the nanga style, which was influenced by Chinese painting. He was also known for his skill in calligraphy. He was the fourth generation principal of Mochizuki School that was founded by a painter named Mochizuki Shigeyoshi.
