Biography:
Noor Al Suwaidi is an artist and curator from the United Arab Emirates. She was born in 1981 in Abu Dhabi and grew up there. She has three sisters and one brother. She has a BA in Studio Art from the American University and an MA in Curating Contemporary Design from Kingston University. She was the first person from the Middle East to study on her MA course. She has worked for Dubai Holdings and is a part-time lecturer at the College of Art and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. She is a founding member of the Cultural and Arts Authority in Dubai. She specialises in the work of other Emirati artists. Her artistic practice focusses on work in paint and collage. Her work has been exhibited in London, Rome and Berlin and is held in the collection of the Barjeel Art Foundation. She has been invited by the Louvre Abu Dhabi to discuss Bellini's Madonna and Child. She has described how her figurative paintings can reflect Arabic calligraphy.
