The company was founded by Carl Wilhelm Fleischmann in 1880 and became known for its high-quality tin toys and model trains. In the early 20th century, the company began to focus on producing model trains, which became extremely popular among hobbyists and collectors. Today, the Fleischmann brand is still used by Märklin, a German toy manufacturer that acquired the company in 1996.
