Biography:
Park Seo-bo was a South Korean painter born in Songchon, South Korea in 1931. He was known for his 'Écriture' series (1967 onwards) and his involvement in the Korean Art Informel movement. Park was part of the first generation of artists to build their careers in the wake of the Korean War, and much of his early work emerged in response to his experiences at the time. He was a leading Dansaekhwa artist, and his main focus for over half a century was exploring the formal possibilities for painting through an emphasis on process and deemphasis on artistic intention. Park passed away in 2023.
