Paul Leonard Newman was an American actor, film director, race car driver, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. He was born on January 26, 1925, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and died on September 26, 2008, in Westport, Connecticut. Newman was the recipient of numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, three Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Silver Bear, a Cannes Film Festival Award, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. He was known for his roles in films such as 'Cool Hand Luke' and 'The Hustler'. Newman also started the Newman's Own food company, which donates all profits to charity. He was married to Jackie Witte from 1949 to 1958 and to Joanne Woodward from 1958 until his death in 2008. He had six children.
