Pedro Cabrita Reis is a Portuguese artist, born in Lisbon in 1956. He is one of the foremost visual artists of his generation and also one of Portugal’s most internationally renowned artists. His work features a wide variety of media – painting, sculpture, photography, and drawing.

Career

Pedro Cabrita Reis studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon. His first solo exhibition, “25 Desenhos” [25 Drawings], was held at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes in 1981. While at university, he founded and directed the magazine Arte Opinião [Art Opinion] (1978-1982). He has participated in various international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale (1995) and the São Paulo Biennials (1994 and 1998).
