Biography:
Peter Bradley is an American painter and sculptor and former art dealer. He attended the Society of Arts and Crafts in Detroit and Yale University. His work was included in the 1973 Whitney Biennial. As an art dealer he was the associate director of the Perls Galleries from 1968 until 1975. He later donated his papers from this period to the Archives of American Art of the Smithsonian Institution. In 1971 while associate director of the Perls Galleries, Bradley began to create his own abstract works, which are associated with the Color Field movement. He has had numerous solo exhibitions in galleries and museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His work is held in the collections of many major museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; and the Tate Gallery in London.
