Biography:

Philippus Baldaeus, also known as Philips Baelde or Father Philippus Baldaeus, was a Dutch minister who was born in Delft, Netherlands in 1632. He went to Colombo during the Dutch period in Ceylon with an invading Dutch force and served as a missionary. Baldaeus is best known for his work 'A True and Exact Description of the Great Island of Ceylon', which provides a detailed account of the country's history, culture, and people during the 17th century. He died in Geervliet, Netherlands in 1671.
