Biography:
Pierre Remiet was a French illuminator, documented in Paris between 1368 and 1396. He was one of the most important illuminators of the late fourteenth century in France. His works are characterized by their elegance and refinement, and he was particularly skilled in the use of gold leaf. Remiet's workshop was responsible for the production of some of the most luxurious manuscripts of the period, including a copy of Valerius Maximus's 'Facta et dicta memorabilia' (1380) and a copy of the 'Roman de la Rose' (1385-1390).
