Biography:

Piet van der Hem was born on September 9, 1885 in Wirdum. He and his brother lost both their parents at a young age, after which they were raised by their aunt and uncle in Leeuwarden. Van der Hem was a Dutch painter, cartoonist, and illustrator. His work was part of the art competitions at the 1924 Summer Olympics, the 1932 Summer Olympics, and the 1936 Summer Olympics.
