Biography:

Raphael Santi, also known as Raffaello Sanzio or simply Raphael, was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. He is considered one of the greatest artists of all time for his contributions to Western art. Born in Urbino, Italy in 1483, he began his artistic training under his father, Giovanni Santi, who was also a painter. Raphael's early works showcase his mastery of perspective and anatomy, as well as his ability to create harmonious compositions. He later moved to Florence where he studied the works of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, which greatly influenced his style. In 1508, Raphael was summoned to Rome by Pope Julius II to work on the Vatican Palace frescoes. It was during this time that he created some of his most famous works, including The School of Athens and The Sistine Madonna. Raphael died in 1520 at the age of 37, leaving behind a legacy of masterpieces that continue to inspire artists today.
