Biography:
Reza Derakshani is an Iranian artist born in Sangsar, Iran in 1952. He is known for his large-scale paintings that draw from the decorative style of traditional Persian art. Derakshani grew up in a nomadic family and was brought up in a great black tent on the top of a mountain. He later studied visual arts at Tehran University and Art Center of California. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
