Biography:

Robert Jessup is an American painter. He was born in Moscow, Idaho, on July 18, 1952, and was raised in Seattle, Washington. Jessup received his BFA in painting from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1975. He has been exhibiting his work since 1981 and his paintings are in private and public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Jessup painted figuratively for most of his career, particularly large triptychs, but he started creating abstract works in 2011. He was a professor of Painting at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, from 1991 to 2018.
