Biography:

Shimizu Hian was a Japanese poet, calligrapher, and painter born in Takahashi, Japan in 1883. He graduated from Kyoto Imperial University with a degree in law and worked as a judge. In 1930, he became the mayor of Nikko, Japan. He was known for his calligraphy and poetry, and his works often combined the two. He died in 1975.
