Biography:

Chiharu Shiota is a Japanese performance and installation artist born on May 20th, 1972 in Kishiwada, Japan. She has been living and working in Berlin since 1996. Her work explores themes of memory, territory, and alienation through the use of materiality and psychic perception of space. Shiota's signature installations consist of intricate networks of threads stretching across gallery rooms. She represented Japan at the Venice Biennale in 2015.
