Shlomo Ben Yitzchak, also known as Rashi, was a renowned French rabbi born in Troyes, France in 1040. He is widely recognized for his comprehensive commentaries on the Talmud and Hebrew Bible. Shlomo studied Torah in Worms under German rabbi Yaakov ben Yakar and French rabbi Isaac ben Eliezer Halevi, both of whom were pupils of Gershom ben Judah.
