Biography:
Sidney Laufman was an American painter known for his landscapes, still lifes, and abstractions. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Laufman studied at the Cleveland School of Art, the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, and under Robert Henri at the Art Students League. He was a prolific painter and exhibited widely, winning the Logan Prize at the AIC twice and the first prize at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Laufman's work is held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, among others.
