Biography:

Silvia Heyden was a Swiss-born tapestry weaver and artist. She was born in Bern, Switzerland in 1927 and studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Bern before moving to the United States in 1952. Heyden was a pioneer in the field of abstract tapestry, and her work is characterized by its use of color, form, and texture. She was the subject of a documentary film, 'A Weaverly Path', which was released in 2011. Heyden passed away in 2015.
