Snehalata Chitrakar is a scroll painter from Naya, West Bengal, India. She was born in 1977 and is known for her traditional Patachitra style of painting on scrolls. She is one of the few female Patua artists in a community dominated by men. Snehalata's work has been exhibited in various parts of the world, including the Google Arts & Culture platform. She has also been featured in a documentary by Google Arts & Culture. Snehalata's paintings often depict mythological and social themes, and she sings traditional songs while unrolling her scrolls. She is also known for her work on the tsunami that devastated coastal communities in the Indian Ocean in 2004. Snehalata is a recipient of the Padma Shri award, the fourth highest civilian award in India, for her services to the field of Fine Arts.
