Biography:

Sophie Charalambous is a visual artist and designer based in London. She studied Fine Art Painting at Brighton University and undertook postgraduate studies on the Motley Theatre Design course. Charalambous has worked as a theatre designer for several years before combining her own practice with working collaboratively in the theatre and leading arts projects. Her works on paper, which range from drawing to watercolour and mono-printing, are influenced by her Cypriot roots and inspired by the Island’s flora and landscape. Charalambous has won several awards, including the David Gluck Memorial Drawing Prize 2017, the Sunday Times Watercolour Prize 2018, and the Jerwood Printmaking Today Prize 2020. Her works have been exhibited in galleries across the UK, including the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery and the Royal Drawing School. Charalambous is also a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and the Society of Graphic Fine Art.
